(Z)-1-Ethoxy-2-(tributylstannyl)ethene is a very versatile acetaldehyde synthon for the synthesis of fused aromatics(1), acrylaldehydes(2), 2-arylacetaldehydes(3), and 2-arylenolethers(4). It is also used to generate (Z)-1-ethoxy-2-(lithio)ethene(5).
